A rate card defines the roles and their billable rates for your company. For example, you might have a "Developer" role that is billed at $150 per hour and a "Designer" role that is billed at $160 per hour. When you plan a deal, you specify which roles will be involved and their allocations. Pricing for the deal is calculated based on the roles, their allocation amounts and their billable rates.
Your rate card is managed in the Company Settings screen.
You can define roles in your rate card by clicking the 'Add Role' button in the Company Settings screen. Each role has a name and an hourly billable rate. If you bill by the week, divide your weekly rate by 40 to get your hourly rate.
How you define your roles is up to you. You can define roles that are based on level (e.g. "Senior Developer", "Mid-Level Developer", "Junior Developer"), by specialization (e.g. "iOS Developer", "Web Developer", "Backend Developer") or whatever makes sense for your business.
If you use a blended rate, you can define a single role for all practitioners and use that role for all deals.
The default role is the role that will be used for any deal that does not specify a role. This is the case when using the Estimate planner mode for a deal.
When a deal is created, the rate card for that deal is set at that time to the current rates of the company. If the rates change, the rate card for an existing deal will not be updated automatically. You'll need to manually update the rate card for the deal.
